Lukas Gurny
I advise and build for German SMBs. Websites, SaaS, AI tools.
I've built, scaled, and digitalized companies, from my own brand to hypergrowth startups to German Mittelstand. Along the way, I learned that technology only works when people are on board. Making that happen is what I do.
About
Enabling companies, not just advising them
I'm Lukas, based in Berlin. After my Bachelor's in Business Administration, I founded Brasiventures, a CBD brand. Packaging, Shopify store, distribution to Berlin kiosks, all built by myself. That's where I learned what it means to take a product from zero to market. Every decision, every mistake, every win was on me.
Then I landed at Gorillas right in the middle of hypergrowth. As Expansion Manager, I was responsible for building permits and fire safety across nearly 100 locations, with a budget of over 2 million euros. What started as an Excel spreadsheet, I turned into an Airtable dashboard that put Ops and Legal on the same data foundation for the first time. I grew into a role that didn't exist before, into a problem nobody wanted to touch.
In the renewable energy industry came the lesson that changed everything. I built the right system, but nobody used it. The boss didn't understand it, so the team ignored it. That's when I realized: digitalization in Germany doesn't fail because of technology. It fails because of culture. Knowledge silos, dependency on individuals, fear of change. The GPT workshops I ran afterward actually worked, because they met people where they were. I showed people what AI could do for them directly, within their spectrum of daily tasks. Still, I moved on from that chapter quickly.
The digitalization wasteland in the German Mittelstand has shaped me and still keeps me up at night. That's why I want to do it better, not just complain. I completed courses in Business Information Systems to qualify for the Master's program, which I'm now doing at the University of Potsdam with a focus on AI and digital transformation. Today I work with a biotech founder on everything his company needs, website, pitch deck, investor relations, market validation. And I build my own products because I want to understand what's possible with the tools I recommend to others.
For me, it's about more than efficiency. I've seen companies suffocate under their own structures. Knowledge disappearing inside individual heads instead of living in the system. Changing that, enabling companies, not just advising them, that's what I get up for in the morning.

Experience
Where I've worked

Self-employed
Digital Transformation Consulting & Startup Sparring · Berlin
Independent consultant bridging the gap between strategy and execution. Working directly with founders and leadership teams to build what's missing: from investor materials to operational infrastructure. Tool-agnostic: whatever gets results fastest.
- Current mandate (GRÜNZUCKER GmbH): Hands-on co-builder: website, pitch deck, investor relations, market validation, financial projection stress-testing. Partnerships with Fraunhofer in pipeline.
- Former mandates: LAP Coffee (location analysis), Everyfy (pitch decks & financial modeling), Halo Bagels (location analysis & commercial lease advisory).

BEC-Energie Consult GmbH
Project Developer · Berlin
Renewable energy company in the classic German Mittelstand. Small team, long-tenured employees, deeply analog processes. This is where I learned that building the right tool means nothing if the culture isn't ready for it.
- Built Airtable database reducing alignment overhead by ~30%. Created bilingual website (DE/FR) on Shopify.
- Led GPT workshops that succeeded where tooling alone failed, meeting employees where they were instead of forcing adoption.
- Core lesson: technology without buy-in is shelfware. Pivoted from implementation-first to change-management-first approach.

Getir
Project Manager, Post-Merger Integration · Berlin
After Getir acquired Gorillas, the focus shifted from growth to consolidation. Led the structured wind-down of the DACH real estate portfolio: managing landlord negotiations, contract terminations, and financial settlements under pressure and tight timelines.
- Led wind-down of 45 properties across DACH region, coordinating legal, finance, and operations across three countries.
- Managed portfolio of 90 locations with end-to-end responsibility for negotiations, contracts, and payments.
- Navigated complex stakeholder landscape: landlords, legal counsel, C-level, and cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.

Gorillas
Project Manager, Expansion · Berlin
Hyper-growth q-commerce startup scaling from dozens to hundreds of dark stores. Joined the Real Estate & Expansion team to manage the operational chaos of opening stores at breakneck speed: building permits, fire safety, landlord negotiations, all at once.
- Managed building permits and fire safety compliance across ~100 store locations. Oversaw €2M buildout budget.
- Built Airtable live dashboard replacing Excel chaos. Single source of truth for legal and ops teams, eliminating miscommunication.
- Worked in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment where priorities shifted weekly. Developed resilience and extreme adaptability.

Brasiventures
Founder, CBD D2C Brand · Berlin
Built a direct-to-consumer CBD brand from scratch as a solo founder. Every aspect of the business (product sourcing, packaging design, Shopify store, retail distribution, accounting) was my responsibility. Proof that I can build and ship end-to-end.
- Solo-built everything: product packaging, Shopify store, local retail distribution to Berlin kiosks and specialty stores.
- Scaled to 6-figure revenue over 3 years. End-to-end business built from zero as sole operator.
- Hands-on experience in supply chain, regulatory compliance, D2C marketing, and retail negotiations.

Solarisbank
Working Student, Operations & Business Development · Berlin
Banking-as-a-Service fintech powering embedded finance for companies like Samsung and Trade Republic. First exposure to a high-scale tech environment. Learned how operations work at the intersection of finance, compliance, and technology.
- Supported complex payment transaction processing and clearing operations in a regulated environment.
- Contributed to internal IT process and workflow improvements across cross-functional stakeholder groups.
- Gained foundational understanding of fintech operations, BaFin compliance, and B2B platform business models.

Real problems, real results
Gorillas / Getir
From Excel Chaos to Live Dashboard
100 locations, €2M budget, no system.
Context
Gorillas was in the middle of hypergrowth. New locations were opening faster than operations could keep up. Every location required change-of-use permits, fire safety approvals, and regulatory inspections. As Expansion Manager, I grew into this role – a topic nobody had systematically addressed before.
Problem
Nearly 100 locations, each with its own permit status. Everything ran on Excel. Legal and Ops worked with different versions, documents got lost, deadlines were missed. Stores were on the verge of closure – not because business was bad, but because paperwork was missing.
What I Did
I built an Airtable dashboard that centralized the entire permit process. Every location, every document, every status – in one place. Legal could access all documents in real time, Ops had visibility on upcoming deadlines. Fragmented Excel sheets became a single source of truth. In parallel, I dove so deep into German building regulations and fire safety codes that I became the internal reference. With nearly 100 applications, you learn fast.
Result
Stores stayed open. P&L was directly protected because closures due to missing permits were prevented. Miscommunication between Legal and Ops was eliminated. A system that didn't exist before suddenly became the backbone of expansion.
GRÜNZUCKER GmbH
From Deep Expertise to Investor-Visible
The complete build.
Context
GRÜNZUCKER is a biotech startup converting biomass into sugar. The founder had years of technical expertise but not a single document that would explain to an investor why it matters.
Problem
No website. No working pitch deck. No fundraising strategy. No validated market model. The company was invisible to investors – not because the technology was bad, but because it wasn't compellingly presented anywhere.
What I Did
Everything that was needed. Built the website. Structured the pitch deck from scratch – not the technology as hero, but the market problem as entry point. Calculated and validated TAM/SAM/SOM model. Critically examined and stress-tested financial projections. Developed investor relations strategy: who gets approached, how, in what order. This isn't a consultant mandate. I sit at the table and build alongside.
Result
The company is now investor-visible. There's a professional web presence, a fundraising narrative that stands, and a pipeline of partnerships including the Fraunhofer Institute. A founder with good technology became a startup on the radar.
Brasiventures
From Zero to Own Brand
Everything solo, everything at once.
Context
Early 20s, no team, no budget, no network. The idea: build a CBD brand and sell it in Berlin. Not as a side project, but as a full-time business.
Problem
There was nothing. No product, no shop, no distribution, no brand. Everything had to be built by a single person – from product development to branding to logistics. And CBD wasn't an easy market: regulatory gray area, shunned by banks, restricted by platforms.
What I Did
Everything. Developed packaging design. Built and optimized Shopify store. Created retail distribution strategy and then personally went to Berlin kiosks and corner shops to get the product in. Every sales conversation, every negotiation, every return, every decision went through me. B2C and B2B in parallel, as a one-man operation.
Result
Six-figure revenue over three years. But the real value wasn't the number – it was what I learned. How to bring a product to market. How negotiations work when you don't have a company name behind you. How to manage sales, operations, and finances simultaneously because there's nobody else. Brasiventures was my MBA on the street.
Renewable Energy Company
Why the Tool Doesn't Matter
And what I learned from it.
Context
A mid-sized company in the renewable energy sector. 18 employees. Projects ran on Excel, email, and the knowledge of individual people. Anyone who had been there for ten years was irreplaceable – not because they were better, but because only they knew where things stood.
Problem
Classic information asymmetry. No central system, no transparent project status, no documented processes. Every handover was a risk. Every vacation a bottleneck. The company was dependent on individual minds instead of functioning structures.
What I Did
I designed a relational Airtable database – a central project OS that was supposed to give everyone equal access to information. Technically, the solution was clean. But leadership didn't adopt it. And when the boss doesn't use it, nobody does. The system didn't fail because it was wrong, but because the cultural shift didn't happen. What worked afterwards: GPT workshops. No database, no dashboard – just showing people directly what AI means for their daily work. That landed because it met them where they were.
Result
Technology without buy-in is shelfware. The bottleneck is never the tool, but whether people are ready to work differently. Since then, I don't start with the solution. I start with understanding. This experience shapes every engagement I take on today.
Mittelstand Company
AI Workshops in the Mittelstand
Not talking about AI. Using AI.
Context
After the failed Airtable implementation at the renewable energy company, it was clear: introducing tools doesn't work if people don't experience the value themselves. So: different approach.
Problem
Employees had heard of ChatGPT but had no idea what it concretely means for their daily work. The attitude was a mix of skepticism, overwhelm, and 'that's not for us'. No ill intent – just no touchpoints.
What I Did
Designed and delivered hands-on workshops. No slides about the future of AI – instead, working directly on real tasks from participants' daily work. Drafting emails, summarizing reports, preparing data, accelerating research. Everyone worked with their own use case, not abstract examples.
Result
The workshops worked where the Airtable project failed. The difference: people felt the value immediately – on their own work. No change management concept, but a direct experience. Several employees continued using the tools independently afterward.
Own Product
Real Estate Calculation Tool
Investment decisions in minutes instead of days.
Context
Calculating real estate investments isn't rocket science, but most people either do it in overly complex Excel sheets or not at all. Between purchase price, ancillary costs, financing, rental yield, and cash flow, you quickly lose track.
Problem
No accessible tool that displays the essential metrics of a real estate investment quickly and understandably. Available options were either too simple or so complex that only professionals could use them.
What I Did
Developed a custom calculation tool covering the relevant parameters of a real estate investment: purchase price, ancillary costs, financing structure, expected rental income, ongoing costs, cash flow projection. Focus on clarity. Input in minutes, result immediately visible.
Result
(In progress – will be updated upon completion.)
